Johannes Gaubitz

Johannes Gaubitz will join the SRSO & Barocksoloists on the 2nd of June in the National Museum (NEUES MUSEUM) in Berlin singing the Tenor part in Johann Sebastian Bachs BWV 4, BWV 106 and BWV 12.
The German tenor, Johannes Gaubitz, began his musical education already at the age of 8 the tenor at the Windsbacher Knabenchor. Subsequently he studied singing at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg with Professor Dorothea Wirtz, and at the Musikhochschule Lübeck as a private student with Professor Matthias Goerne and finished with distinction. In addition, he received important musical impulses from Robert Holl, Hartmut Höll, Mitsuko Shirai, Axel Bauni, Alexander Schmalcz, Eric Schneider, and Matthias Goerne. He is the winner of the Internationalen Gesangswettbewerbs der Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg. Since 2015, he has been supervised by the Berlin vocal pedagogue Sami Kustaloglu. Since finishing his studies, Johannes Gaubitz has been active as a free-lance concert-performer, and has also sung with such conductors as Hans-Michael Beuerle, Alexander Joel, Joseph Trafton, Carlos Dominguez-Nieto, Thomas Hengelbrock, René Jacobs, Rolf Beck, Achim Zimmermann, Kai-Uwe Jirka, Philipp Ahmann, Frieder Bernius and Philippe Herreweghe. He has sung with such ensembles as the Hamburger Symphoniker, Hamburger Camerata, Elbipolis Barockorchester Hamburg, Barockorchester Göttingen, Leipziger Barockorchester, Staatskapelle Eisenach, Philharmonie Südwestfalen, Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz, Streicherakademie Bozen, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and Lautten Compagney Berlin. He has been a guest at the Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Münchner Philharmonie, Gustav-Mahler-Saal in Toblach, Teatro Comunale Città di Vicenza, Cathédrale d'Antibes, Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ Amsterdam, and Opera City in Tokyo Concert Hall. In addition to his concert activity, Johannes Gaubitz' special interest is the Lieder. He completed a master's degree in Lied performance at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg with Professor Burkhard Kehring. He has performed numerous Lieder recital programmes by the composers L.v. Beethoven, Schubert, Robert Schumann, R. Strauss, Felix Mendelssohn and Benjamin Britten. He was accompanied by pianists such as Ana Miceva, Daniel Lorenzo, Burkhard Kehring and Eduard Stan. Johannes Gaubitz made his debut in 2008 at the Staatstheater Braunschweig as 2nd Edler in Wagner's Lohengrin. There followed the role of the sparrow in Richard Ayres' opera The Cricket Recovers. Scenic productions of J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) took him to the Theater Osnabrück and the Berliner Dom. Here, too, he could also be seen in a scenic production of J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) under Christoph Hagel and the Berliner Symphoniker, which received supraregional attention.
