Mariam Machaidze

Grateful to share the news that Mariam Machaidze is joining the SRSO on the 26th of April.
Born in 1992 in Tbilisi, Georgia, Mariam Machaidze began studying violin at the age of five. She studied in the Z. Paliashivili Central Music School with Mr. Konstantin Vardeli and Mr. Temur Pheradze. She moved to the United States in 2010 to study at the Juilliard School, where she graduated in 2016 under the direction of Mr. Stephen Clapp, Ms. Sylvia Rosenberg and Ms. Laurie Smukler. Currently she studies at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” under the direction of Ms. Eva-Christina Schönweiß. Since her debut as a soloist with the Georgian State Orchestra aged 10, Mariam has participated in festivals worldwide, such as Verbier, Schleswig-Holstein, Lucerne, “Night Serenades”, Britten-Pears, Fontainebleau, Aspen, FOCUS!, ChamberFest, Attergau, Campos do Jordão and “Moscow meets Friends”. As an avid promoter of new music she performed regularly with AXIOM and the New Juilliard Ensemble and enjoys premiering pieces written by her and her peers. Mariam was a member of Joseph Joachim-NDR Radiophilharmonie and Deutsche Oper Berlin Akademie. She held scholarships from the International Education Center (2014-2016), Fritz Kreisler, C.V. Star, Marie Dring, J. & R. Lhevinne, L. Isakadze, and Rudolf Primal and was a holder of Gluck and Morse fellowships. Mariam has been an active participant in the communities she’s lived in, organizing benefit concerts and festivals in Tbilisi. She recently created “arts for education”- an educational festival in Tbilisi that will aid the music students of Georgia in their musical development.
