Mireia Peñalver Guilleumes

We are happy to share some more detailed information about our partners who are joining us in the team of the Silk Road Symphony Orchestra for the coming Berliner Dialogkonzerte:

Mireia Peñalver Guilleumes .

Mireia started her music studies at the age of eight in Barcelona, choosing the cello because it was a big, impressive and challenging instrument. During her musical training she has won—as a chamber music musician and as a soloist—prizes in national competitions around Spain and Catalonia. Nevertheless, instead of keeping focus on competitions, Mireia aimed for becoming a member of various national youth orchestras, performing therefore in some of the most important concert halls of Spain and the Netherlands, where she found that she could develop herself as a musician to the fullest extent. She has since participated in various master classes of both cello and chamber music and accordingly has received invaluable pieces of advice from many well-known artists such as Antonio Meneses, Jean Guihen Queyras, Richard Aaron, Michel Strauss, Troels Svane, Lluís Claret and Leonid Gorokhov, among others. She has recently obtained her Bachelor's Degree in the Prins Claus Conservatoire (the Netherlands) under the guidance of Professor Jan-Ype Nota, graduating cum laude on February 2017. Being an avid chamber and orchestra musician, she has worked with ensembles such as the Noord Nederlands Orkest, Berliner Symphoniker, Philarmonisches Kammerorchester Berlin and Sinfonie Orchester Berlin among others. Prone to explore always the possibilities of the cello and to go out of her boundaries, Mireia has also collaborated in projects involving jazz, blues, experimental and world music, as well as carrying out an incipient compositional and creative task that allows her to approach and experience music from a contemporary angle. She currently lives in Berlin, being artistically active.
